The Museum of the Moving Image

When I lived in New York City, The Museum of the Moving Image was one of my favorite museums. It still is. And now that they have a Jim Henson exhibit, it's moved straight to the top.

I don't know if I relate more to Cookie Monster or Miss Piggy...

...probably the latter - because I'm now gluten-free, and I did get married to The Muppets Take Manhattan.

When I lived in Astoria, we had a membership. I would walk 20 minutes to the museum to watch a movie and play these video games about once a month.

The space has definitely been museum-ified. By which I mean 12 years ago, it looked like a regular building with really cool stuff, but now everything - the stairwell, the exterior, and the cafe - all look like any other museum in Manhattan.

A lot of my old favorite exhibits are still there (RIP Seinfeld Diner) - including the ADR booth where I actually learned what ADR was, before doing it for real once I moved to Hollywood.

New York Minute

Hello from New York City! Here I am with the film family for "Mike, Mike Tan" - Kenny Leu, Fiona Fu, and Tzi Ma <---- this is the second time I'm playing his daughter.

Dinner at Milk and Roses in Brooklyn (above), midday snack at Big Gay Ice Cream...

...where they have gluten-free cones!

I've had a couple days off and explored my old neighborhood of Astoria, Queens. I stopped by the old apartment building to say hi to the super - he introduced me to a woman who was entering, and when I told her I had lived there a dozen years ago, we discovered she lived in the same exact apartment. What are the chances?!?

Stopped by my old pizza joint, Sac's. I can't eat their marinara pie anymore but they said to come back for gluten-free pasta!

More Memory Lane - I caught a matinee of Miss Saigon (rush tickets are $50). I was obsessed with this musical as a teenager; I sat in a row by myself during the second act, sang along quietly, and sobbed my eyes out.

I Ate ALL the Facebook Office Snacks

Hello from New York City!  I'm in town to shoot Unique Sweets Season 7 for Cooking Channel (!!!!) and hang out with my mom on the anniversary of my father's death.  But I'm also here to do work at the Facebook Office in my teeny tiny desk.

Nah, I was really there to do a Facebook Live video with them.  When I went to the Facebook Office in Menlo Park five years ago, I remembered being impressed by all their snacks.  I asked if we could do a taste test in the New York City office, and boy did they deliver!

They wheeled in their entire snack stations into the studio!  I tried everything from Naan Chips to Salt and Vinegar Fries.  I even hacked a couple snacks.

You can watch the whole video here.  Next time, I'm going to raid the cafeteria!
