Our stay at J. Patrick House is hosted.
Our last leg of this past 4th of July weekend road trip found us in Cambria. After all that driving, we were ready for some R&R at this perfect B&B - J. Patrick House.
Owners Linda and Ron completely renovated this place and have really made this it feel like home. You can tell they love what they do, and how much of themselves they put into every single detail. The holiday decorations were up - it kind of reminded me of that cozy feeling you get going back to your hometown for the holidays.
We stayed in the Tipperary Room - with a four poster bed, fireplace, and window seat.
Linda was really thorough in explaining what to see in Cambria - I'll have more about the exploring we did in a future post.
When we got back, their front building was open to all the guests for a hosted wine and appetizer hour.
Knowing I'm celiac, she prepped an ENTIRELY GLUTEN-FREE spread that everyone could enjoy, complete with wheat-free crackers.
Pretty much everything is made from scratch - including these chocolate chip cookies. Unfortunately for me, they're made from flour, but Abe enjoyed a couple before bed.
In the morning, we joined everyone in the dining room for the best breakfast I've ever had at a B&B...maybe one of the best breakfasts ever?!?
The menu changes daily, and for 4th of July we had a special red/white/blue fruit starter of apples, berries, and poppy seed dressing - followed by this amazingness. Gluten-free bread (even toasted separately for me) with bacon, eggs cooked to order, and potatoes in a cast iron skillet.
I'm not exaggerating when I say Abe and I talked about this meal for the next couple of days. Every now and then one of us would sigh, smile, and say, "That breakfast." And the other would nod in agreement. We are definitely going to have to revisit during Christmas, when I hear things get really festive.
