Our breakfast view at The Parkview Hotel in Hualien, Taiwan looked straight outa Jurassic Park!!!
We drove over to the Eternal Spring Shrine in Taroko National Park...
...then to another section of the park, Swallow Grotto.
Hard hat and serious selfie face required.
Lunch took place at an Aboriginal Restaurant in the park, Leader Village Toroko.
Everything was fresh and cooked simply.
More on all of this in an upcoming video; but I will say now that my favorite was the sticky rice, cooked in bamboo.
Three hours along the Pacific Coast, with a stop along the way at Shitiping (pronounced differently in Chinese than how you'd read it in English)...
...and the Tropic of Cancer marker.
A little road block! The local tribe was celebrating their summer harvest with some major street dancing.
We finally made it by evening, in a little rain, to the Taitung Tribe's restaurant, translated as "Old Tribe, Good Food." Everything is outdoors, including the kitchen.
Like our indigenous lunch, basic but delicious. From the chicken (above) to the fish (below).
These are shrimp with mayonnaise and SPRINKLES. Sprinkles, people! I'm still in shock.
A quick stop to the Tiehua Music Villages for some outdoor entertainment and shopping...
...now back at our hotel. Another long, crazy day (with a 3 hour drive) awaits.
