ACTIVIST

Photographer: Helenna Santos

In 2009 I started a blog/podcast “The Actor’s Diet”. It helped me overcome a lifelong eating disorder, and inspired me to co-found the first body image site for Asian-American women, “Thick Dumpling Skin” with Lisa Lee. We’ve been featured in Marie Claire, SELF Magazine, NPR, Cosmopolitan, and Huffington Post.

I’ve been an Ambassador for the National Eating Disorders Association (2012-2019), and have worked with The National Organization of Women (NOW) on their "Love Your Body Campaign." I’ve been a keynote speaker, emcee, and panelist at Disney California Food and Wine, Dartmouth College, Wellesley University, Stanford University, BlogHer, WonderCon, and the NEDA Conference.

I’ve served on the board of Miry’s List, been a member of Time’s Up API arm, A+, as well as a Film Fatales Advisory Circle Member.

Feel free to connect for bookings and appearances.

EATING DISORDERS / BODY IMAGE INTERVIEWS

BACK FROM BROKEN

It was an honor to be on Vic Vela’s show (produced by Colorado Public Radio) about recovery and addiction.

LET IT OUT

My friend Katie Dalebout interviewed me about eating disorder recovery and rejection.

THE ACTOR’S DIET

I started this podcast years ago, and recorded over 100 episodes with everyone from actress Sandra Oh to journalist Lisa Ling to writer Cheryl Strayed. We talked about our relationship to food and our bodies.
